Puzzle Grammar

Three kinds of clockwork

Every island remixes the same three puzzle families. Learn the grammar early and the finale reads like poetry.

Light puzzles

Carry, park and protect the lantern spark. Light wants to be delivered — your job is clearing its route.

Mechanism puzzles

Saws, cranes and seesaws on independent clocks. Freeze one gear while the world flows around it.

Memory puzzles

Objects that remember their own history. Rewind a prop to the moment it was somewhere useful.

The five islands that broke players

Voted by the community as the puzzles most likely to produce a satisfied groan at midnight.

Stuck on one of these?

Our FAQ covers gentle, spoiler-free nudges for every island — no solutions spoiled unless you ask twice.

#5 — Island 11 · Midnight Snack

Three containers, one straw, and a liquid timeline most players empty the wrong way first.

#4 — Island 09 · Rewind Cinema

A film inside the level that must be rewound at exactly the scene it was filmed.

#3 — Island 17 · Lanterns Adrift

Nine lanterns drift in the current. Only one holds your light — and the current rewinds too.

#2 — Island 14 · The Long Stair

The island deletes its own staircase. The trick is realising which version of the stairs is real.

#1 — Island 19 · Saying Goodbye

The finale's penultimate braid — two friends, two clocks and a ladder that exists in neither.

Spoiler-adjacent content

The giants beneath the waterline

The Gardens keeps its biggest secrets submerged. On certain islands, shapes move under the sea — patient, enormous and completely uninterested in your lantern.

The Storm Whale

First shadowed on Island 15. It is not an enemy — it is weather with a heartbeat.

The Lighthouse Keeper

A presence felt rather than seen — the light that sweeps the horizon on Storm Reach.

Hidden Constellations

Secrets the islands keep

Every altar lit releases a memory into the sky — but some islands hide constellations that only appear for players who rewind the wrong thing on purpose.

  • The Kite — Island 04. Launch it backwards through the storm.
  • The Controller — Island 07. Lose the arcade game to win the sky.
  • The Anchor — Island 20. Hold still at the very last step.

0 hidden constellations documented so far — the community suspects there are still two undiscovered.
